WAS IT A PARANORMAL ACTIVITY?

Well this story that am going to share with you is something that actually happened to me. Some may find it too difficult to believe; even I would have found it difficult to believe until this Monday, 16 August 2010, when this happened to me.
All my life, I mean the 21 years that I have lived in this planet, I have never ever believed in anything paranormal. Although I had watched the movie ‘Paranormal Activity’ on Saturday, I was only scared about the scenes in the movie, not at all, did I ever question my belief about the existence of ghosts. On Sunday, it was all but fun; my friends and I watched YouTube videos of Ouija board real life incidents. While my friends were scared to death by some of the videos, I had a good time laughing at them. Even the remotest of sound of the wind, or the door banging the wall were interpreted as paranormal activities. One of my friends even heard some sounds from the wall, which none of the rest could hear. In short, I had a great time laughing at all the false paranormal activities that was the result of the movie and the YouTube videos.
Now on Monday, after a long and tiring day’s class at around 8:30 p.m., I decided to go out for a walk in the Dhakuria Lake and pursue my passion for photography. I was just clicking some random pictures of the trees in the dark surrounding the lake, the moon in the midst of trees, the dirty water, etc. On the other side of the Lake, there is the Rowing  Club, which surrounded by some buildings far away along with their reflections on the lake waters posed a beautiful picture for anyone who passed by that side of the lake. Now I took a photo of this beautiful landscape, but being not too satisfied with the effort, I decided to re-click the picture. Now after taking the second picture when I was looking at that on the LCD of my camera, I saw a strange sight. Some smoke appeared on the right hand side of the picture. I was awe-struck. I looked around myself and there was simply no sign of smoke anywhere. There were only some water bodies to my right and green grass to my left, which showed no signs of it being burnt even hours before. As I was trying to find out the possible signs of the smoke, I saw something, which further horrified me. Just a few feet away, I saw a steel bowl and a plate fly one after the other, in front of me. Suddenly, I heard some footsteps. I shouted who was it and there was no reply. There was no shadow, nothing only the footsteps could be heard. Slowly the sound of the footsteps came closer and closer and surely, this was too much for me to stand there and watch the rest of the drama. I started tracing my footsteps behind to go back to my Paying Guest. The faster I walked, the faster I could hear the footsteps following me. Still there was no one to be seen. Finally, I started running until I reached a street lamp that lighted the lake at night. I stood there trying to get my breath back when the light suddenly glowed off. I again heard the footsteps approaching me. Being almost scared to death, I started sprinting for life. I guess the speed with which I ran that half a kilometer would have been enough to break any world-record that ever existed for a similar distance. I ran until I reached close to the railway line, where I brought some water from the nearby shops and walked back home.
After reaching my Paying Guest, I told my friends and my proprietor about the incidents that had happened in the Lake. None of them believed till I showed them the two photos that I had taken just seconds apart.

THE GREATEST

Born in colonies where you feared to tread,
You destroyed them too when new houses you made,
I slept on the streets when nice beds you had,
Tea-stands filled my hands when to school you went.

I learnt not the ABCs,
I learnt not the Sciences,
I read not the poems you loved,
From life, I had learnt.

You laughed, you ridiculed, you always louted me,
You shooed me from your homes when my hands I had spread,
The festivals you enjoyed were just a torture to me,
Coz the streets you roamed was my home.

I suffered, I cried at the justice God has made,
When I suddenly found the gift that I had,
When schools, colleges and parents made your future,
I started to write my destiny that I would one day make.

I fought; I battled my way to the top,
I proved myself a survivor when faced with odds,
As today before me, you spread your hands,
I smile within and offer you a job.

I was once badly treated,
I was once exploited,
But today I am acknowledged,
That I am the survivor,
I am the fighter,
I am the challenger,
I am the victor,
I AM THE GREATEST.

THAT FEELING CALLED LOVE

With a smile of a child,

And a heart made of gold,

She walked into my heart,

Like an angel of my world.

So often we dreamed,

Of a small house on a beach,

Made not of bricks but made of love,

Where one day we shall together live.

Our colours didn’t matter,

Not did our castes,

All that did matter,

Was our love and our dreams.

One day suddenly the world around me changed,

She parted with me saying her marriage has got arranged,

She behaved with me as though we had never before met,

And all the promises were never ever made.

I toiled, I tried, I fought to get her back,

I failed each time for her support I never had,

Thinking that one day better sense would prevail,

I continued to work hard to make our dreams real.

Years later, one day we met,

Thinking she has returned,

My face had glittered.

She hadn’t still married,

But had so much changed.

I was called a liar,

When I said I still loved her,

I was called retarded,

When I said for her I always had waited.

May be she is right,

I indeed had been mad,

For I so long mistook,

A demon to be an angel,

A fiend to be a child.

I understand today I had been greatly wronged,

But it doesn’t matter to me as I am now not alone,

It doesn’t really matter what she has done,

For in the past we had so much fun.

As memories of the past take over once again,

In the arms of my angel, some love I feel once again.

What if she is not with me for real,

Can she ever go away from my heart,

Where she always had stayed and forever will.

THE GREATEST BEAUTY ON EARTH

More beautiful than beauty personified,

She is the greatest beauty on earth,

The smile of hers is just so sweet,

The very glimpse of her makes me feel so relieved.

Her eyes much brighter than diamonds shining bright,

Her lips much redder than the roses so red,

The grace of hers even the peacock envies,

The greatest wonder on earth is she.

The face of hers is a reflection of her heart,

She is so caring and so much kind.

Don’t you wanna know now,

This angel in our earth?

She is my world,

She is my all,

She is my life,

She is my love.

MY HOME UNKNOWN

Who am I?

What is my name?

Where was I born?

Who is my mom?

These streets unfamiliar,

The people unfriendly,

This world is unknown,

Yet this is my home.

This is my life,

No hope of any love,

The very sight of mine,

Make the people go to laugh.

This is my life,

This is my world,

I know not this place,

Yet this is my home.

Where am I?

What is my name?

Where was I born?

Who is my mom?

Who am I?

LIFE LONELY

My life was empty,

My surroundings void,

Loneliness and sadness filled up my world.

I wanted some love,

But there was none by my side.

And then,

You came upon me,

Sat by my side,

And when the times were hard,

You gave me your love.

Days, months and years passed,

And time made you say goodbye.

Time took me back,

To my earlier world,

To my past life,

Still everything empty,

My surroundings void,

But no longer tragic,

No longer sad.

I have found now my truest friend,

Whom no time can ever fade,

Who will follow me to my deathbed,

My only companion, my only friend,

Loneliness, my truest friend.

I am alone,

And my world is empty,

I fear not losing,

Coz I have nothing.

No hope to gain,

No fear to lose,

That is my life,

Loneliness filled.

A TALE OF TWO FRIENDS

Once there were two friends namely Rohan and Roshni, in a small town in Assam called Dibrugarh. Although both went to different schools, they used to be together whenever they were not in school-played together, studied together and did everything together. Roshni was very brilliant in studies while all that captured Rohan’s interest was art and crafts. He used to make different woodwork and present it to Roshni. Roshni was such awed at his brilliance that she in fact idolized him.

However, once they grew up, the scenario changed completely. Rohan’s attitude towards studies often earned him punishments from teachers. Although Roshni tried to make him to study harder but studies were not his cup of tea. He simply could not concentrate enough on studies and as a result, his performance in class began to deteriorate. In their board exams, Roshni passed with high grades in all subjects while Rohan just managed to scrape through. Now, Roshni started to find the company of her old friend disgraceful and his brilliance in arts and crafts stopped amazing her anymore. She in fact started avoiding him now.

After school, Roshni went to study Commerce in one of India’s best colleges and passed out with flying colours. She immediately joined one of the best investment banks in the world after college. Rohan in the meanwhile took admission in a local college and after two unsuccessful attempts at the first year examinations; he gave up and quit studies. He started working for a small artisans shop in Mumbai.

While working, Roshni fell in love with a colleague and married him. Within a few years, they became three when she gave birth to a baby boy. All this while, she never bothered to contact Rohan. She did not even invite him for her wedding. Rohan although knew all that was going on in Roshni’s life did not go to meet her as his presence may not make her feel too good.

Years later, tragedy struck. The bank in which Roshni and her husband were working closed down during the recession and they were without jobs. No company was ready to hire them at that time when the markets had crashed. They had loans against almost everything they possessed. After months of applying to several business houses for a job, they eventually received a letter from a Dubai based Interior Designing house owned by an Indian businessman. The letter said that they had heard good things about them from their previous employers and that they were hiring them to look after the Sales & Marketing section of the company’s Mumbai Office. The letter further stated that the company would take care of all their loans and asked them to join work immediately. It was only years later that they learnt that the Indian businessman who owned their company is none other than her childhood friend Rohan.

Author’s take

Friendship is not about showing to everyone that you are friends. It is about proving your friendship when time tests it. Even if one is treated badly by a friend, a true friend proves his friendship. Friendship does not hold grudges, nor does it seek favours. Friends are people who enter your mind and know more about you than you yourself. That’s why FRIENDSHIP is the most beautiful relationship that exists in this world.
